Paris, France – June 13th, 2013 – TEMIS, the leading provider of Semantic Content Enrichment solutions for the Enterprise, today announced it has signed a major license and services agreement with the leading newspaper Les Echos.

Producing media services focused on economics and finance, arts and culture, and enterprise services, Les Echos have witnessed in recent years a steady shift in the source of their revenues, from decades of print products to more recently a significant and growing share from sales of online content. Les Echos have been a longtime leader in an industry undergoing fundamental changes including the exponential growth of free content, the decline of print, the rise of the tablet and the emergence of a “Web of data.” In order to accelerate its digital business development, the group wants to capitalize on its editorial content, creating a series of innovative products and services for new audiences.

To achieve their product development objectives, Les Echos have chosen to deploy Luxid®, the semantic content enrichment platform by TEMIS. Luxid® will enable Les Echos to structure all of the unstructured content published by their various editorial teams (Les Échos, Investir, Enjeux Les Échos, Business). Further, Luxid® will make it possible for the group to easily link similar or related content, make them interoperable by complying with the semantic web standards, and connect them to proprietary or open-source knowledge bases. Semantic metadata produced by Luxid® also will help optimize publication systems and create new offerings.

“TEMIS solutions will allow us to deploy a full-scale semantic approach, within all the products of the group and autonomously”, said Frédéric Filloux, General Manager in charge of digital activities at Les Echos. “Furthermore, TEMIS will extend us the benefit of the experience they’ve acquired with economic and financial content. Lastly, Luxid® is an evolutive solution that enables the integration of open source knowledge bases with international standards such as IPTC. These are key benefits in a fast-moving digital environment where enriching content with semantic metadata has become an essential step in bringing out its full value.”

“We are delighted that Les Echos have chosen TEMIS to assist their team in this digital shift”, said Vincent Nibart, Sales Director – Publishing France, TEMIS. “TEMIS is renowned in the publishing sector for its know-how in semantic content enrichment and recently took a leap forward in terms of projects in the press sector thanks to major projects conducted with Gannett (USA Today) and Agence France Presse.”

Based on patented and award-winning Natural Language Processing technologies, Luxid® exploits off-the-shelf extractors called Skill Cartridges® to extract targeted information from unstructured content and semantically enrich it with domain-specific metadata. This enables professional publishers to efficiently package and deliver relevant information to their audience, and helps enterprises to intelligently archive, manage, analyze, discover and share increasing volumes of information.

About Les Echos

The integration of Luxid® with SharePoint 2013 automates the enrichment of columns with domain-specific metadata

Paris, France – May 21st, 2013 – TEMIS, the leading provider of Semantic Content Enrichment solutions for the Enterprise, today announced that its Luxid® for SharePoint 2013 integration will become commercially available as of today. Luxid® for SharePoint 2013 is an integration of TEMIS’ flagship Luxid® Content Enrichment Platform into SharePoint 2013.

Based on patented and award-winning technology, Luxid® Content Enrichment Platform is a powerful and scalable content enrichment solution that natively supports 20 languages and exploits specialized engines called Skill Cartridges® to automatically extract relevant topics, entities, facts, sentiments, or categories from documents and generate rich metadata. This semantic metadata, stored in SharePoint 2013 columns, is then freely available for use by any application, opening new perspectives for content management, archival, business process automation, analytics and search. Luxid® includes a library of off-the shelf Skill Cartridges® that address areas of recurring interest, as well as a suite of productivity tools that help customize them and create new ones that are relevant to customer business areas.

“This second-generation integration will help enable our customers to deploy semantic enrichment industrially on their SharePoint 2013 farms”, said Michaël Domanski, Alliances and Channel Manager, TEMIS. “The domain-specific metadata produced by Luxid® is now available for search services, for the Term Store as well as the entire application layer.”

Luxid® for SharePoint 2013 is a second-generation integration that builds on the same foundations as the TEMIS’ Luxid® for SharePoint 2010 integration, with significant extensions in key functional areas based on customer feedback:

Seamless integration with SharePoint 2013
Luxid® for SharePoint 2013 is a server application that is seamlessly accessed through Web Services, reads documents, extracts relevant metadata based on their Content Type and feeds it into the corresponding SharePoint 2013 columns. This alleviates end-user manual contribution efforts and enhances the quantity and quality of metadata. Depending on governance policies, metadata may remain accessible for end user modification thanks to habitual SharePoint 2013 views.

Industrial configuration and deployment
Thanks to a rich set of configuration interfaces, all relevant Luxid® content enrichment service parameters – such as Content Type definitions, corresponding Managed Metadata and Managed Properties – can be configured through Luxid® for SharePoint 2013 menus, streamlining to a matter of minutes the mechanics of deployment to an entire SharePoint 2013 farm. Luxid® for SharePoint 2013 also preserves the history of manual metadata modifications for audit purposes.

Advanced Term Store integration
Luxid® for SharePoint 2013 enables full, two-way integration with the SharePoint Term Store. When implemented in the context of a closed Term Set, Luxid® applies the Term Set to content, enabling precise institutional governance over – managed – metadata through an Enterprise taxonomy. In the case of open Term Sets, Luxid® identifies concepts beyond a pre-ordained list, as they appear in the content, a process that supports the enrichment or feeding of an enterprise taxonomy based on actual enterprise content.

Native application integration
Stored in SharePoint columns, the metadata produced by Luxid® for SharePoint 2013 becomes natively accessible to any application – in particular for content management, business process automation, information access or analytical tasks. As an example, exploiting Managed Properties or Managed Metadata, any SharePoint 2013 search service may seamlessly index this metadata and present rich faceted navigation interfaces structured according to end-users’ enterprise taxonomy. Other features that can be built include contextual navigation, content recommendation engines and analytical widgets.

Availability
Luxid® for SharePoint 2013 will be made available through TEMIS directly and its network of partners and system integrators as of today.

Luxid® now available for cloud-based content enrichment applications in Windows Azure

Paris, France – March 26th, 2013 – TEMIS, the leading provider of semantic content enrichment for the enterprise announced today it has completed a conclusive series of tests of its flagship Luxid® Content Enrichment Platform on Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Azure, opening the door to customer application deployments on Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure.

A Microsoft Gold Partner, TEMIS is the provider of the flagship Luxid® Content Enrichment Platform, which in January 2013, was awarded the SIIA’s 2013 Codie Award for Best Semantic Technology Platform. Based on patented natural language processing technology, Luxid® is a powerful and scalable semantic content enrichment solution that recognizes and extracts relevant items of information hidden in plain text and enriches document metadata. By revealing the nature of unstructured information assets, it helps optimize their management and archival, their distribution through content management systems or portals, as well as their analysis. Available for on-premises as well as cloud-based deployments, the Luxid® range of products also includes a standard integration that streamlines its on-premise use in Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and Microsoft SharePoint 2013.

“During these tests we were able to successfully deploy Luxid® in a variety of typical customer situations, including high-availability scenarios requiring high-speed annotation of large volumes of content, where the elasticity of Windows Azure is crucial”, said Olivier Terrier, TEMIS CTO. “Luxid® is production-ready in Windows Azure.”

TEMIS’ customers’ projects often involve unusually high volumes of content covering a wide variety of topics, languages and formats. The amount of content being enriched may also vary very quickly, for example in situations where an entire archive must be processed, temporarily requiring several orders of magnitude more processing power as compared to day-to-day operations.

To test against these requirements, TEMIS adopted a hybrid IaaS and PaaS architecture, where the IaaS component offers the benefits of robust configurability and administration and the PaaS component enables an elastically scalable deployment that can scale up or down in quasi-real-time based on the customer’s ongoing needs. This architecture was successfully tested in a range of configurations, for deployments typically starting at 32 ‘Large’ Windows Azure Compute instances and above, providing more than 128 concurrent processing cores.

Washington, D.C., New York, NY – February 4th, 2013 – TEMIS, leading provider of semantic content enrichment solutions, today announced that its flagship Luxid® Content Enrichment Platform was named a winner for the 2013 SIIA CODiE Awards for “Best Semantic Technology Solution”. Winners represent the information industry’s best products, technologies, and services created by or for media, publishers, and information services providers.

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association for the software and digital content industries, announced TEMIS as a CODiE Award content winner.

Based on patented and award-winning natural language processing technology, Luxid® Content Enrichment Platform is a powerful and scalable semantic content enrichment solution that recognizes and extracts relevant items of information hidden in plain text and enriches document metadata. By revealing the intimate nature of enterprise informational assets, it helps optimize their management, distribution, access and analysis.

“We are extremely proud of this CODiE award, which recognizes our strong commitment to meeting our customers’ semantic content enrichment needs”, said Daniel Mayer, VP Marketing, TEMIS. “And it is all the more important for us because for the first time a CODiE recognizes semantic content enrichment technologies as a separate product category addressing what is becoming a standard requirement for all information- and content-centric organizations.”

“We are especially pleased with the high-caliber of this year’s CODiE Award winners. The products selected as finalists stand as a testament to the dedication finalist companies have not only to meet, but also to exceed their customer and partner expectations,” noted SIIA Vice President for the Content Division, Kathy Greenler Sexton. “This was an extremely competitive year for the Content CODiE Awards.”

Winners were announced during a special Awards luncheon on January 31st in New York City during the SIIA’s annual flagship conference for information industry leaders, IIS 2013: Breakthrough.

The SIIA CODiE Awards are the industry’s only peer-reviewed awards program. The first round review of all nominees is conducted by media, publishing, and information services executives with considerable industry expertise, including members of the industry, analysts, media and bloggers, bankers and investors. The judges are responsible for selecting the CODiE Awards finalists. SIIA members then vote on the finalist products and scores from both rounds are tabulated to select the winners.

About the SIIA CODiE™ Awards
The SIIA CODiE™ Awards were established in 1986 by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), so that pioneers of the then-nascent software industry could evaluate and honor each other’s work. Since then, the CODiE Awards program has carried out the same purpose – to celebrate the software and information industry’s finest products and services.

Paris, France – January 17th, 2013 – TEMIS, the leading provider of semantic content enrichment solutions, is pleased to announce that the Luxid® Community Platform will be going into open beta this month. The Luxid® Community Platform is an online collaboration platform where semantic content enrichment practitioners can meet their peers, exchange best practices, share information extraction components and accelerate their projects. TEMIS will unveil the Luxid® Community Platform in four dedicated events in New York, Berlin, Paris and London starting January 29th, where TEMIS customers and partners will be invited to join the platform and help further shape its directions. To learn more about the Luxid® Community Platform, register for the launch event of your choice on the TEMIS website at http://www.temis.com/join-the-luxid-community.

“Structuring their unstructured content is becoming a burning need for organizations, but the corresponding ecosystem is still fragmented. With the Luxid® Community Platform, our goal is to help our customers and partners to collaborate and facilitate the mainstream adoption of semantic content enrichment technologies”, said Daniel Mayer, VP Marketing of TEMIS. “To enable synergies, the Luxid® Community platform will also include a Marketplace where organizations can exchange components that are relevant to their semantic content enrichment process.”

TEMIS helps organizations structure, manage and exploit their unstructured information assets. Its flagship platform, Luxid®, exploits off-the-shelf extractors called Skill Cartridges® to extract targeted information from unstructured content and semantically enrich it with domain-specific metadata. This enables professional publishers to efficiently package and deliver relevant information to their audience, and helps enterprises to intelligently archive, manage, analyze, discover and share increasing volumes of information. Luxid® includes a suite of productivity tools enabling TEMIS customers and partners to customize existing Skill Cartridges®, develop new ones from scratch, as well as optimize quality and performance.

The Luxid® Community Platform enables registered members to:

Meet other members and share best practices related to semantic content enrichment, information extraction, analytics and discovery,

Initiate collaborative projects with other users with similar use cases,

Identify service providers and domain experts who can assist them in their projects,

Share or sell their Skill Cartridges®, taxonomies, corpora, and other Luxid®-related components.
